Emori tells him she was kicked out of her clan and Murphy tells her he is there because he killed two people and tried to kill two more. Emori states that even if the Dark Commander does take control, the people aren't a threat to him but Murphy, recalling his chess game with the Dark Commander, knows that they will be: when they played, Sheidheda made sure to take Murphy's pawns so that they couldn't move across the board to get promoted. Murphy comments that he can accept invisibility and ray guns, but he needs an explanation for Bellamy's new status. To add further incentive, Russell threatens Emori's life if he fails. Murphy helps Clarke take the Flame and keeps her alive while she navigated and destroyed the City of Light. Everyone in the camp starts falling ill and Clarke sends Octavia to Lincoln for a cure. Racing to find Madi, Murphy comforts the young girl through a panic attack and promises to look after her while Indra goes after Sheidheda, ordering her to "get the bastard.". Murphy and Jade lead an attack on the Verge and sneak in through the back while the Children of Gabriel are distracted out front. He will do whatever is necessary for him and Emori to survive together. Murphy says that Otan "ate the damned chip" that Jaha gave him and threatens to drop the case into the water unless they let Emori go. Raven, Echo, Monty, Harper, Emori, and Bellamy are having a meal. Just as Clarke walks off to take a shower, Emori tells Murphy that they're leaving. Murphy and Emori escape on the boat. Bellamy allows Murphy to go with Finn and tosses him a gun. Raven tells Murphy that he will get used to it and the two exchange quips about how well the other did as Cadogan, Bellamy and Doucette settle onto a vantage point to keep watch. In Damocles (Part 1), Murphy remains behind with Emori to try to fix one of the prisoners' sonic cannons as the others go to find Madi. There, he convinces Indra not to kill Charles Pike and the three escape the dungeons together, making a pact to defeat A.L.I.E.
